Although the essential oil of the blue rain fern (Tanacetum annuum) is extracted from small yellow flowers from the camomile family, the powerful essential oil acquires a deep blue colour during steam distillation. The reason for this is the naturally contained active ingredient chamazulene. This rare plant, originally from Morocco, is known mainly from high-end beauty products. Young Living members have long known the essential oil of blue rain fern as an ingredient in many popular blends, including Valor, Peace & Calming, and JuvaFlex. Northern Lights Black Spruce essential oil comes from Young Living Northern Lights Farm in British Columbia, Canada. Black spruce (Picea mariana) is native to all of Canada, even the three Arctic regions. To extract the essential oil, all the tree's components are steam distilled.
