Cistus belongs to the cistus family (Cistaceae). The shrub with aromatic resin (labdanum) forms white flowers in the period from April to June. The scent of the hydrolate is described as somewhat "musty" by specialist authors such as Suzanne Catty. It is certainly not a lovely fragrance for a feel-good product, but is valued in the skin care sector for its astringent and skin-caring effect.

Organic cistrose hydrosol has a strong astringent (astringent) effect. This property is ideal for small wounds or after shaving. It helps to stop bleeding and is very soothing to the skin. Of course, only very fresh hydrolate should be used for this purpose. You can also use the hydrolate wonderfully to relieve heavy menstrual bleeding. Susanne Catty also recommends the hydrolate for mature, wrinkled skin as a facial tonic. In summer, Cistrose Hydrolate Bio is suitable as a cooling leg spray. The hydrolate has an antiviral effect. It is therefore a companion for colds, shingles and chickenpox (possibly in combination with organic lemon balm hydrolate, calophyllum oil and antiviral essential oils). During the period of infection, the hydrolate is suitable for room air purification. Eliane Zimmermann recommends the hydrolate for sensitive people to work through trauma. It helps to work through hidden contents of consciousness and to open the soul.
