Malachite Pendant

The name of malachite comes from Greek "malache" (for mallow), because its color looks similar to the foliage of the mallow. Malachite was already known in ancient Greece, Roman Empire, ancient China, Egyptians and Mayans. The Egyptians used it to make coveted art objects such as amulets or scarabs and used it in ground form for eye shadow. In ancient traditions it is also called "midwife stone" because it is said to be able to relieve labor pains. Malachite is not only highly sought after as a gemstone, but is also used in painting as a pigment.
